Государственный гимн Исландии был написан в 1874 году по случаю празднования тысячелетия существования Исландии. Музыка Свейнбьорна Свейнбьорссона (1847-1926), слова Матеуса Йохамсона (1835-1920). Гимн состоит из трех стихов, однако обычно исполняется только первый. Английский перевод гимна принадлежит Якобине Джонсон.
